Obviously compared to the 5 year old pads the replacements were miles better. As they are very light I find it difficult to shake them off my feet, so if they are particular muddy I use the boot pull-off tool I keep in my porch - this is probably the only minus I found in them. Year after year! First week they hurt the top of my feet where it went but it is slowly going away during each use. Now I have screws at home so that isnt a big deal and we can always paint it to be another color but we shouldnt have to supply our own hardware. The faux leather feels just like leather and, like all DMs, feels as if its built to last - so I recommend that if you want them for this summer you buy them in good time to soften them up and let your feet get used to them. 5 size up, dont buy them.
